Stitches & Stories: Quilts from the Elmhurst Piecemakers
Throughout history, quilts have presented a unique way of telling stories through their colorful fabrics and intricate patterns. The Elmhurst Historical Museum presents a stunning array of contemporary quilts in this special exhibit from local quilters, The Elmhurst Piecemakers. The variety in design and craftsmanship is impressive, and visitors should plan to make a return visit to catch both rotations of exhibit: Group 1 is on display September 23-November 9 and Group 2 from November 18-January 4. |

Billy Graham Center Museum Art Exhibit: "A Vision of Hope: Reflections of Poverty and AIDS in Africa"
This exhibit focuses on some of the very real, personal, moments of women, children and men who live with the effects of AIDS everyday. While often heartbreaking, their stories ultimately bring hope, shown in the faces of those who live in the midst of the crisis with dignity, faith and joy.
The photographs featured were taken by Al Buschauer during several trips he took to Africa with the non-profit agency Hands of Hope and Willow Creek Community Church. Also featured are abstract paintings by Marg Rehnberg, as well as several art composites using the joint skills of both artists. |

Scottish Jewelry Exhibit
Special Exhibit “Scottish Jewelry” through May 10, 2009
Features 27 antique pieces including crest and kilt pins, brooches and bracelets. This unique lapidary art form was popularized by Queen Victoria in 1848. The jewelry emphasizes Scottish symbolism and gemstones in handmade silver work.
